3.7M tourists visit Davao City in past three years

DAVAO City has reached great milestone with an impressive 3.7 million tourist arrivals from 2022 to 2024.

The yearly breakdown highlights a steady increase in tourist numbers: more than 850,000 in 2022, 1.2 million in 2023, and nearly 1.8 million in 2024.

The surge of tourist arrivals also highlighted the city’s commitment in increasing its appeal as a top travel destination in the Philippines.
A variety of cultural and festive celebrations have been instrumental in attracting visitors.

Events like the Araw ng Dabaw, Duaw Dabaw, Kadayawan Festival, and Pasko Fiesta continue to captivate tourists with the vibrant display of the city’s heritage and spirit.

The City Government of Davao, through the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO), has also implemented strategic initiatives to promote Davao as a hub for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE), further boosting its tourism profile.

The effort was reinforced during the February 28 town hall meeting where various stakeholders across Davao City convened to discuss about MICE incentives, define important terms and ideas in the MICE industry, and plan ways to better adapt to emerging industry trends and market demands.

The influx of tourists has also contributed significantly to the local economy, benefitting local businesses.

Davao City is determined to sustain its upward trajectory in the coming years with plans to open new eco-tourism destinations, especially in the scenic areas of Marilog and Paquibato. These developments also aim to enhance the city’s appeal as a nature-rich destinations while promoting sustainable tourism practices.

With this initiatives in place, the CTOO remains optimistic about achieving its 2.5 million visitor target this year, ensuring that Davao City remains a destination for culture, business, and adventure. CIO
