A gunfight broke out between criminals and authorities at the Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport in Chile in an attempt to steal $32.5 million.
According to the report, 3 vehicles entered the airport early on Wednesday to intercept an aircraft that arrived from Miami carrying the money.
There are videos circulating on social media about the failed heist, in one video gunshots can be heard and later on, holes can be seen in a Delta Airlines Aircraft.
The shooting happened in a confrontation between security guards of the airport and a gang of ten heavily armed robbers who failed to steal 32.5 million in cash.
The money was reportedly being transferred to an armored truck from a commercial flight from Miami in the United States.
Reports also said that an agent of the Civil Aviation Authority of Chile and one of the assailants died at the robbery scene.
The remaining assailants fled the airport and left four burned vehicles on their escape route, and Chilean authorities are conducting a manhunt to capture them.
Meanwhile, Chilean President Gabriel Boric promised that the criminals will be brought to justice.
