4.4-M families to benefit from ₱106-B budget allocated fund for 4Ps

THE government has allocated ₱106.335 billion under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA) for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

This aims to assist over 4.4 million eligible households nationwide.

According to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Mina Pangandaman, the ₱106.335 billion allocation for 4Ps is larger compared to the budget allocated for it in 2023, which was ₱102.610 billion.

This budget covers health assistance amounting to ₱750 per month and ₱600 per month as rice subsidies for 4.4 million families.

It also includes education subsidies ranging from ₱300 to ₱700 per month for over 7 million students.

“This significant funding will greatly benefit millions of our fellow Filipinos who are in dire need,” according to Sec. Pangandaman.

At the same time, the government assured that the 4Ps will receive the necessary support in terms of funding.

The Philippine government’s 4Ps aim to reduce poverty and an investment program in human capital that provides conditional cash transfers to the most needy families for a period of up to seven years.

The program aims to improve the health, nutrition, and education of children aged 0-18.
