AN explosion ripped through a building in downtown Tokyo, Japan, injuring four people.
The explosion happened on Monday afternoon, on the west side of the J.R. Shimbashi Station in Tokyo.
The blast scorched walls, and debris also scattered along the streets.
Japanese media reported that the blast occurred in a bar on the second floor of the 8-storey building, and the fire was caused by the blast, scorching the other wall to the sixth floor.
Debris was also scattered along the streets.
The four people received treatment for minor injuries, three of the injured people including the bar owner are believed to be seriously hurt.
The cause of the accident remains unclear, but the Japanese police said they received information that what appeared to be gas could be smelt inside the building.
Authorities raised the possibility of a gas leak in the property.
The police also blocked the road and warned the public to stay away from the area until the cause of the blast was confirmed.
