TROOPS from the 8th Infantry Division (8ID) and the Philippine National Police captured alias Ned/Lukad in an inter-agency operation on April 8, 2024 at Barangay Pitogo, Consolacion, Cebu.
Romulo Micabalo, also known as Ned or Lukad, is known as the top two leader of the Eastern Visayas Regional Party Committee and is responsible for the numerous Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) atrocities in Eastern Visayas. He also has a standing warrant of arrest for two counts of kidnapping with serious illegal detention and robbery with violence against or intimidation of person.
The Army leadership lauded the troops of the 8th Infantry Division for a successful inter-agency operation. They also emphasized the impact of the operation in ending the local communist armed conflict in Eastern Visayas.
