PRESIDENT-elect Prabowo Subianto called for unity shortly after he was declared the winner of last month’s presidential elections in Indonesia.
The former general won nearly 60 percent of the votes and asked for those who did not vote for him to give him a chance.
Subianto, who also serves as the current defense minister, will replace outgoing President Joko Widodo and will assume office in October.
He teamed up with Widodo’s eldest son and mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka who ran as Vice President.
Eighty percent of 205 million registered voters across Indonesia cast their ballots on February 14.
Meanwhile, Subianto’s rivals former provincial governors, Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo, threatened to file a complaint to the Constitutional Court amid allegations of widespread fraud.
