VICE President Sara Duterte did not watch President Bongbong Marcos Jr.’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on TV or other devices, according to the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
VP Sara was in Bohol to offer condolences to the Boholanos for the death of their Vice Governor and to uplift the community following the temporary suspension of their duly elected local officials.
“She is currently in Bohol to empathize with the Boholanos for the death of their Vice Governor, as well as to uplift the general mood of the people brought about by the suspension of their duly-elected local officials,” statement from the Office of the Vice President.
The OVP added that since it was Bohol Day, it was an opportune time for the Vice President to deliver a message of hope to the people of Bohol.
“It is also Bohol Day today, which makes it an opportune time for the Vice President to bring a message of hope — na may Diyos na nagbabantay sa atin, at sa pamamagitan ng pagtutulungan at pagsisikap, magagawa nating ayusin ang Bayan muli,” the OVP added.
Political commentator highlights significance of VP Sara’s Bohol visit
Political commentator Jay Sonza highlighted the importance of Vice President Duterte’s visit to Bohol.
“You know, it’s important. For those who may not know, 63 officials from Bohol, including the governor, mayor, barangay captains, and councilors, have been suspended by the current administration,” according to Jay Sonza, Political Commentator.
“63 [government officials]. From the governor, mayor, barangay captain, barangay councilors, and municipal councilors. So, it is important for the government, possibly through the Vice President, to show solidarity,” he added.
Sonza believes that the suspension of Bohol’s local officials stemmed from the low trust and approval ratings for Marcos Jr. in the province.
“What can you do if that’s how the people feel? They can’t even afford rice, especially after the approval of EO 62. Instead of a price reduction, prices increased,” he added.
“State of No Achievement”: Political analyst blasts Marcos Jr.’s 3rd SONA
Meanwhile, a political analyst has described President Marcos Jr.’s SONA as a “State of No Achievement,” claiming that the President has not really accomplished anything.
“This is already the third State of No Achievement for our President. That’s what his SONA means. It seems our President is experiencing a failure to launch. Two years have passed since he took office, yet the public is still waiting to see if Bongbong Marcos has anything to offer,” Ado Paglinawan, Political Analyst said.
DepEd’s successes under VP Sara are Marcos admin’s only achievements
Ado Paglinawan also added that the only notable achievement of the Marcos administration in the past two years is the success of the Department of Education under Vice President and former Education Secretary Sara Duterte.
“He does have an achievement. The only achievement he had was Mrs. Sara Duterte’s performance at the Department of Education. This includes implementing a 70% reform of our K to 10 Curriculum for public school students,” Paglinawan added.
“It’s ironic that our President’s only achievement after two years is actually Sara Duterte’s achievement. It’s an irony that we Filipinos… I don’t know if this is a celebration or a wake of an administration,” he concluded.
