DPWH NE 2nd DEO completes Gapan-Fort Magsaysay Road improvements in Peñaranda

THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) has completed the asphalt overlay project along the Barangay Poblacion and Sinasajan sections of the Gapan – Fort Magsaysay Road in Peñaranda.

District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad noted that overlaying asphalt on the road pavement extends its lifespan, while the smooth surface significantly improves traffic flow and reduces average travel times.

“This improvement primarily benefits motorists, tourists, and uniformed personnel traveling to Fort Magsaysay. A total of 2,029.70 linear meters of the road network have been enhanced through asphalt overlay to prevent pothole formation and ensure rider safety,” Trinidad said.

To further enhance the safety and usability of the road, the preventive maintenance project also included the installation of thermoplastic pavement markings.

Assistant District Engineer Robert Jay Panaligan explained that the application of thermoplastic pavement markings enhances safety and convenience for all road users.

“The visibility of these markings at night helps motorists stay in their designated lanes and serves as a warning to pedestrians against crossing, thereby reducing the risk of accidents,” Panaligan clarified.

Furthermore, this project, funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA), was completed ahead of schedule, highlighting effective project management that allowed the benefits—such as reduced traffic congestion and improved road safety—to be realized sooner than expected.
