SEATRADE Cruise (STC) Group Portfolio Director Mary Bond on Monday (Nov.11) warmly addressed delegates during the welcome reception for Seatrade Cruise (STC) Asia 2024 and thanked the Department of Tourism (DOT) for its partnership in making the STC Asia possible.
In her speech, the Director praised the Philippines’ world-renowned hospitality and values such as generosity, gratitude, and optimism that did not go unnoticed.
“This is my, and many of my team’s, first time in The Philippines, and I am sure, like me, anyone who has not been here before has already been made to feel so very welcome. It is rare these days when traveling—as everyone here tonight can attest—to find a sea of smiling faces and willingness to help visitors, and it really does make an impression and a difference,” she said.
She also underscored the Philippines’ status as one of Asia’s top ten cruise destinations, offering “an unforgettable tourist experience from stunning beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and rich cultural heritage,” among other attractions. Additionally, the Director shared that Filipino crew members are “highly regarded” in the cruise industry and make up a large part of the global cruise ship workforce.
Concluding her remarks, the Director declared,
“The Department of Tourism’s tagline is ‘Love the Philippines.’ I think for this evening and this week, permit me to add a few more words and say: The Cruise Industry loves the Philippines!”
STC Asia is a premier gathering for the global cruise industry, highlighting Asia’s potential both as a destination and as a market. Attendees will engage in networking sessions, learning forums, and strategic discussions designed to drive sustainable growth and foster regional collaboration in the cruise sector.
