Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco welcomes Robert Stephenson-Padron of Penrose Care Ltd.

TOURISM Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco on Thursday (Nov. 14) welcomed Robert Stephenson-Padron, Managing Director of Penrose Care Ltd (UK), during a courtesy call at the Department of Tourism (DOT) office in Makati City.

Established in 2012, Penrose Care was founded to address the need for fundamental reform in the United Kingdom’s home care sector, focusing on improving elderly and disability care.

The visit centered on exploratory discussions about potential collaboration in health and wellness tourism. This aligns with the DOT’s emphasis on this sector and its goal to position the Philippines as a leading destination for medical and wellness services under the Marcos administration.

Key initiatives being piloted include the accreditation of medical hospitals, medical aesthetics, and dental clinics, as well as the establishment of Tourist First Aid Facilities (TFAF) in selected tourism destinations in partnership with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) and the Department of Health (DOH). The DOT has entered into partnerships with private stakeholders like The Medical City (TMC) to launch the “Discover Your Wellness” medical tourism campaign.

TMC Group CEO Dr. Stuart Bennett, Chief Strategy Officer Christian Delos Reyes, DOT officials Director Paulo Benito Tugbang, and Head Executive Assistant Frances Jan Villarino also attended the meeting.
