SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go, known for his advocacy for improved access to basic services, emphasized the importance of providing clean and accessible water supply especially in schools and communities.
As Vice Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, he recently advocated for the construction of a water supply system in the San Isidro campus of Davao Oriental State University (DORSU) under the 2025 national budget. The initiative aims to address long-standing water accessibility issues in the campus, benefitting students, faculty, and the surrounding community.
The water supply system, slated for construction this year, is expected to alleviate the campus’s persistent challenges with water supply. Senator Go underscored the importance of prioritizing essential infrastructure that directly impacts the daily lives of Filipinos.
As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, Senator Go also linked the initiative to his broader health advocacy. He explained that access to clean water directly contributes to public health, particularly in preventing diseases related to poor sanitation.
“Kalusugan ang unang naapektuhan kapag walang malinis na tubig,” he said.
The senator, who also authored multiple health-related bills, pointed out that addressing such basic needs complements his long-standing push for improved healthcare facilities and services, particularly in underserved areas.
Senator Go also highlighted his push for sports infrastructure development in DORSU. He successfully advocated for the rehabilitation of the gymnasium at DORSU’s main campus as Chairperson of both the Senate Committees on Youth and on Sports.
Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.
