FORMER President Rodrigo Roa Duterte responded to the accusation that he obtained guns from Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy.
During the hearing of the committee led by Senator Risa Hontiveros on the accusations against Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, a witness accused former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte.
Alyas Rene alleged that there were instances when he saw both the former president and vice president carrying bags of guns allegedly given by Pastor Apollo.
To this, the former president responded:
“We received guns from Pastor Quiboloy? I will even deliver a cannon or a machine gun to him tomorrow. It’s a very stupid proposition,” according to Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Former President of the Philippines.
This statement was made by the former president in a press conference in Davao City.
Duterte also asked, why would Pastor buy guns when the former president has his own collection?
“It’s silly. Why would Pastor give me guns? Where would he get them?” FPRRD said.
“I am the supplier of firearms here. I don’t ask others for it. I’ve been a supplier of firearms for a long time, even when I was young,” he said.
“I am in the collector’s category. It means I keep buying [guns], but I can’t use them. I can only use one,” he added.
As for VP Sara, she shrugged off the accusation, saying that she wouldn’t be surprised if more attacks against her arise in the future.
FPRRD on Summons of Pastor ACQ to the Senate: What For?
Meanwhile, Former President Duterte questioned the Senate’s move to subpoena Pastor Apollo following the accusations from the witness:
“It’s not an order. You cannot order an ordinary citizen like me, compel me to report to you. For what? If I don’t want. Or if, say, for the national interest that you should appear, if I begin to question you. What is the significance of that interest?”
“I didn’t see anything ‘of national interest,” FPRRD stressed.
