ACTIVIST group Justice for Myanmar released a report alleging several firms linked to Australia have maintained operations in Myanmar since the military coup and are funding the war.
Titled Mines Against Humanity, the report suggested at least 10 firms with links to Australia continued operations in Myanmar since its armed forces known as Tatmadaw staged a military coup on February 1, 2021.
The firms include the Australian Laboratory Services, Asia Pacific Mining Limited, Access Asia Mining, and PSI Drilling Limited, to name a few.
These businesses create revenue for the military and support the junta in its attacks on opposition forces in the country, as the report alleged.
A spokesperson for the activist group urged Australia to impose sanctions on the junta and to stop Australians from directly and indirectly providing funds and other forms of support to Myanmar’s military.
Despite restrictions, the group claimed it uncovered the information through the company’s annual reports, leaked tax filings as well as documents from junta ministries and other open-source materials, among other things.
