ON July 27, Argentina became the 28th country to sign the Artemis Accords, a set of principles guiding peaceful space cooperation.
The signing ceremony took place in Buenos Aires, with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Administrator Bill Nelson and Argentine Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation Daniel Filmus participating.
Argentine President Alberto Fernández and Marc Stanley, the United States Ambassador to Argentina, were also present.
The accords align with the 1967 outer space treaty and promote responsible behavior and data sharing as part of NASA’s Artemis program.
The agreement fosters international cooperation and encourages more countries to join in the future.
In response, the Argentine president emphasized the significance of the step, stating, “It is very important we take this step as it is key that we move forward in the field of space development. We are convinced that it must be a state policy”.
