Australia deploys military to aid flood victims in Queensland

DOZENS of Australian Defense Force personnel and several military helicopters are assisting the residents in Far North Queensland.

Flood evacuations continue as heavy rain starts to ease across north Queensland. The aftermath of the disaster is becoming clearer by the day as authorities join forces in recovery and response efforts.

Firefighters from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were also seen working around the clock to dump huge amounts of rain and responding to dozens of calls for assistance every hour for the past 24 hours.

Locals are confused as to how a relatively Category 2 cyclone that weakened into a low-level system when it entered Queensland turned chaotic.

The Australian state is no stranger to flooding and heavy rains but experts said the deluges brought by former tropical cyclone Jasper was of another level that it broke records not seen in more than 100 years.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will visit Far North Queensland later in the week to announce a one-time disaster payment for the flood victims.
