SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go has shown his support for the graduates technical-vocational programs. He further highlighted that providing such specialized training not only improves their chances of employment but also plays a significant role in advancing the nation’s economic growth.
“Tech-voc programs are crucial for equipping Filipinos with the necessary skills and knowledge for success in the said sector,” Go said in a message for tech-voc graduates from Mandaluyong City Jail on Friday, February 14.
The graduation was held at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Building in Maysilo Circle, Plainview, Mandaluyong City, where Go’s representative personally congratulated the 150 inmates who graduated.
Meanwhile, Go emphasized the critical role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in advancing the nation’s progress. He pointed out that TVET seeks to close the skills gap, ensuring that Filipinos from all economic backgrounds can acquire the necessary and sought-after skills. This, in turn, would enable them to find meaningful employment and play a significant part in the economic development of the country.
The senator also filed Senate Bill No. (SBN) 2115 to institutionalize TVET and livelihood programs for rehabilitated drug dependents. The bill seeks to provide skills training and enhance the employability of former drug dependents, allowing them to rebuild their lives and contribute to their communities.
“Ako naman, bilang inyong Mr. Malasakit Kuya Bong Go, magseserbisyo ako sa abot ng aking makakaya. Hinding hindi ko sasayangin ang pagkakataon na binigay niyo sa akin. Kung may mga programa kayo, basta ito ay makakatulong sa ating mga kababayan, sabihan niyo lang ako at tutulong ako,” Go reassured.
