Bong Go inspects progress of local infrastructure development in Maco, Davao de Oro

SENATOR Christopher “Bong” Go, Vice Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Finance, personally visited Barangay Binuangan in Maco, Davao de Oro, on Saturday, December 7, to check on the progress of the ongoing construction of a multi-purpose building.

The project, funded through Go’s support, aims to provide a versatile facility that will cater to the community’s various needs, from hosting local events to serving as an emergency shelter during disasters.

In his speech, Senator Go emphasized the importance of local development, underscoring the significant role infrastructure projects like this play in uplifting communities. “Ang ganitong mga proyekto ay bahagi ng ating layunin na mas mapalapit ang serbisyo ng gobyerno sa mga tao at mapaganda ang kalidad ng kanilang buhay,” Go stated, highlighting his consistent advocacy for grassroots empowerment.

Apart from the multi-purpose building in Barangay Binuangan, Go has also supported other vital infrastructure projects in Maco. These include the construction of revetments along the Hijo River in Barangays Pangi, Taglawig, Elizalde, and Dumlan, which aim to mitigate flooding and protect nearby communities.

The senator also helped facilitate initial stages of the construction of a two-story multi-purpose building at the municipal site of Binuangan and supported the establishment of a new Super Health Center in Barangay Elizalde, ensuring access to essential healthcare services for residents. Go also inspected the construction site of the said Super Health Center on the same day.

As Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography and a health reforms crusader,  Go reiterated his commitment to providing better healthcare access through initiatives like this, saying, “Ang kalusugan ng ating mga kababayan ang isa sa pinakamahalaga para sa akin dahil ang kalusugan ay katumbas ng buhay ng bawat Pilipino.”

The senator took the opportunity to express his gratitude to local government officials, including Governor Dorothy Gonzaga, Mayor Arthur Carlos Rimando, Vice Mayor Alvera Veronica Rimando, and the town’s councilors, for their collaborative efforts in realizing these projects. “Malaki ang naitutulong ng pagkakaisa at kooperasyon para sa mabilis na pagkumpleto ng mga proyektong ito,” he said.

Senator Go vowed to continue supporting similar initiatives, stressing that rural development remains a priority in his legislative agenda. “Gagawin ko ang aking makakaya upang masiguro ang tuloy-tuloy na pag-unlad ng ating mga komunidad at pag-angat ng buhay ng bawat Pilipino,” he concluded.

The senator also checked on the situation of landslide victims in the town and provided them with assistance as well.

The senator’s visit reflects his hands-on approach to governance, ensuring that initiatives he has supported are implemented effectively to benefit the people in rural areas.

“Patuloy kaming magseserbisyo sa inyo dahil bisyo ko ang magserbisyo at ako ay naniniwala na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo ‘yan sa Panginoon, serbisyo ‘yan kay Allah,” underscored Go who is known as Mr. Malasakit for his compassionate service to Filipinos in need.

On the same day, Go also inspected the Super Health Center in Maco and aided Masara landslide victims.
