Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s Malasakit Team conducted a relief activity on Wednesday, November 13, assisting families affected by a fire in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental. This effort is part of Go’s continuing commitment to helping communities recover from disasters and rebuild their lives.
As the principal author and co-sponsor of Republic Act No. 11589, or the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Modernization Act of 2021, Go reiterated his commitment to enhancing the BFP’s capabilities. The law provides for a ten-year modernization program that includes recruitment, advanced equipment acquisition, and specialized training for firefighters to better respond to emergencies.
The BFP will also conduct monthly fire prevention campaigns and information drives in every local government unit, particularly in informal settlements, economically depressed areas, and far-flung communities.
Kaya dapat doble ingat tayo,” stressed Go.
The distribution was held at Negosyo Center Grounds, where 17 affected households received grocery packs, shirts, vitamins, masks, and snacks.
Additionally, in coordination with Senator Go and Mayor Erick Canosa, the National Housing Authority (NHA) provided emergency housing assistance to help affected families acquire essential housing materials.
Go in his video message.
Go concluded his message by assuring the residents of Gingoog City of his unwavering support.
The senator also called on local leaders and government agencies to continue working together to ensure that affected families receive the help they need. Go’s dedication to community rebuilding efforts reaffirms his mission to serve the Filipino people, particularly those in need.
