THE fifth phase of the world’s largest deep-water oilfield Buizos begins its operations in Brazil as announced by China National Offshore Oil Cooperation (CNOOC) Limited.
Buizios is located in the Southeastern Santos Basin of Brazil. It is the largest deep-water pre-sale oilfield in the world.
With an operating depth of 1,900 to 2,200 meters, Buizios produces 150,000 barrels of crude oil and around 6 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
The floating production storage and offloading or FPSO used in the said project was converted in China in July 2022, it arrived at the oilfield in January of this year.
CNOOC is the first foreign oil company to achieve independent sales of natural gas in Brazil since September 2021
It is also the largest trading partner of Petrobras, the operator, and owner of Buzios.
The company also owns nearly 10 percent equity in Mero, another deep-water oilfield located in Brazil.
