CHINESE Premier Li Qiang, China’s second-most powerful leader after President Xi Jinping, met his Australian counterpart Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during a diplomatic visit to the country this week.
Both sides agreed to properly manage their nations’ differences tainted by a trade war that impacted billions of dollars in Australian products.
His visit focused on China’s investment in critical minerals, clean energy, and business links to Australia.
Perth – the capital of Western Australia state – supplied 39% of the world’s iron ore in 2023 and serves as one of Australia’s most lucrative exports.
Li’s visit to Australia marked the first time a Chinese premier visited the country in seven years.
