FOR Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte, the case filed against him by former Sen. Antonio Trillanes III is actually a welcome development.
Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte remains calm regarding the new allegations from former Senator Antonio Trillanes.
Trillanes has filed drug smuggling and graft charges at the Department of Justice against Congressman Duterte and five other accused individuals.
Included are Atty. Mans Carpio, husband of Vice President Sara Duterte, former Customs Chief Nicanor Faeldon, and other personalities.
Trillanes, a prominent critic of the Duterte family, alleges that the accused were involved in the importation of shabu in May 2017, valued at P6.4 billion.
Instead of retaliating, Congressman Duterte sees the case as a welcome development.
In his July 31 statement, Cong. Duterte said it’s better to discuss the issue in court rather than through Trillanes’ frequent attacks on social media.
“This is a welcome development. It is better because the hearing will be in the courts of the Philippines, not in the court of Facebook or in the mind of a confused soldier,” according to Rep. Paolo Duterte | 1st District, Davao City.
Duterte called Trillanes a confused and ineffectual soldier.
The former Presidential son claims that the accusations from the former Senator are baseless, labeling these as fabricated cases to outright deceive the public.
The Congressman also called Trillanes’ actions a trial by publicity against him and the Duterte family.
“Please bear in mind that this is the similar case where Mr. Trillanes made a fool of himself when he presented his alleged evidence against me…. as a mercenary. I am not surprised that Mr. Trillanes has once again been fooled into funding this desperate attempt to peddle this baseless story to the Filipino people,” Cong. Pulong added.
Former Davao City Councilor Danny Dayanghirang agrees with Congressman Duterte’s comments.
Especially since they were part of Vice President Sara Duterte’s core group during the 2022 campaign.
Dayanghirang says Davao residents are dismayed by the current situation of the Duterte family—a family that has been instrumental in the country’s change and development.
Davao City residents disappointed with Marcos admin’s excessive criticism of the Dutertes—Former City Councilor
“Oh yes, definitely! That’s why there are still pockets of resistance, and despite the rallies happening, most people. You know, most of them are crying. We never expected things to turn out this way,” Danny Dayanghirang, Former Davao City Councilor said.
