DENR donates boats to boost Manila Bay rehab in Pampanga

DEPARTMENT of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga turned over motorized boats to three towns in Pampanga and the Philippine Coast Guard to boost monitoring and rehabilitation of river systems directly draining into the greater portion of the Manila Bay.

The environment czar stressed that the DENR follows the ridge-to-reef approach in the protection and conservation of the environment.

“We monitor and observe our biodiversity for the development of our country depends on it. It gives us food, water and different ecosystem services. This is why we need to apply a whole of society and government approach in our environmental governance,” Loyzaga said.

The towns of San Simon, Macabebe, Minalin and the Coast Guard Pampanga received motorized boats to be used in the intensified waterway patrolling and monitoring activities of the DENR and the local government.

DENR Undersecretary for Field Operations in Luzon, Visayas and Environment Juan Miguel Cuna, Pampanga 4th District Representative Anna York Bondoc, DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo joined the Secretary in the turn-over ceremony.
