KINUMPIRMA ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) na iimbestigahan nila ang umano’y 400 overstaying na Chinese nationals na nagtatrabaho sa DITO Telecommunity.
Ayon sa ulat, may mga alegasyon na sangkot ang mga ito sa paniniktik o espionage na seryosong banta sa pambansang seguridad.
“The CICC and the DICT would formally do an investigation. We would also reach out our counterparts in the Bureau of Immigration. The first allegation is overextension visas. Since this is a telco that we are talking about our attached agency which is NTC would also be an active partner in this investigation,” ayon kay Asec. Aboy Paraiso, DICT.
Malugod namang tinanggap ng DITO Telecommunity ang nakaambang imbestigasyon ng DICT kaugnay ng naturang ulat.
Ayon kay Atty. Adel Tamano, Chief Corporate Communication Officer ng DITO, kumpiyansa silang muling mapapatunayan sa imbestigasyon na sumusunod ang kompanya sa lahat ng pamantayan ng gobyerno pagdating sa cybersecurity at proteksyon ng impormasyon.
Sa katunayan, pumasa aniya ang DITO sa isang joint audit na isinagawa ng DICT, National Security Commission, at National Telecommunications Commission noong Abril 8, 2025.
“We are confident that this investigation will once again affirm the findings of the joint Audit of the Department of Information and Communications Technology, National Security Commission, National Telecommunications Commission, conducted recently on April 8, 2025, which stated clearly that DITO has passed the Government standards for cybersecurity and has safeguarded its network facilities and information assets by establishing a robust security system and infrastructure,” wika ni Atty. Adel Tamano, Chief Corporate Communication Officer, DITO Telecommunity.
Ayon sa ulat, ligtas at maayos ang mga pasilidad at sistema ng DITO, na epektibong pinangangasiwaan ayon sa mahigpit na pamantayan ng gobyerno.
Ang nasabing audit ay may bisa hanggang Abril 2027, na nagsisilbing patunay ng matibay na seguridad at integridad ng kanilang operasyon.
Bukod rito, binigyang-diin ni Tamano na ang mga namumuno sa seguridad ng DITO ay mga retiradong opisyal ng militar, mula sa Chief Technology Officer, Head of Cybersecurity, hanggang sa Head of Corporate Security, na may malawak na karanasan sa pambansang seguridad.
Sabi pa ni Tamano, matagal nang nilinaw ng DITO ang mga ganitong akusasyon.
Nagsimula ito noong 2018 nang italaga silang “New Major Player” ng NTC, at muling ipinaliwanag sa mga pagdinig sa Kongreso noong 2021 para sa kanilang franchise renewal.
“We have been plagued by similar allegations since we were awarded by NTC to operate as the New Major Player in 2018. In fact, we have already addressed these claims numerous times in our Congressional hearings for the renewal of our franchise in 2021, and in various media fora henceforth,” dagdag ni Tamano.
Kaugnay ng isyu sa visa, iginiit niyang sumusunod ang DITO sa lahat ng batas at regulasyon sa pag-eempleyo ng mga banyagang manggagawa.
“On the visa issue, DITO has always been fully compliant with all requirements for employment of foreign nationals,” aniya pa.
DITO, iginiit na hindi sila magpapagamit laban sa interes ng Pilipinas
Sa kabila ng mga isyu, sinabi ni Tamano na patuloy nilang pinagtitibay ang tiwala ng publiko.
Mula nga aniya nang inilunsad ang serbisyo ng DITO noong Marso 8, 2021, ay nasa halos 15 milyong Pilipino na ang tumangkilik sa kanilang mga serbisyo.
Tiniyak niyang hindi nila kailanman papayagan na magamit ang kompanya sa mga aktibidad na laban sa interes ng bansa at ng mga Pilipino.
“We will always provide our customers with the best possible service, protect the privacy of their data, and will never allow our company to be used for any activity that would be detrimental to the interests of our country and its people,” giit nito.
