MIGRANT Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac visited the wake of Jerrick Gomez in Parañaque City this morning to personally offer prayers and convey President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s message of sympathy and condolences.
Assistant Secretary Ma. Regina Galias and Director Falconi “Ace” Millar joined Secretary Cacdac in his visit to the wake where they personally extended their heartfelt sympathies to the grieving family.
The DMW provided financial assistance through the AKSYON FUND to ensure immediate support for the family during this difficult time.
Gomez is survived by his wife, Jo-Anne, their 4-year-old child, Yasi Gaile, his parents, and siblings.
As Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW), Gomez was a nurse in the United Kingdom for nearly five years. He had planned to return to the Philippines to attend his child’s moving-up ceremony, but tragically, an accident prevented him from doing so and resulted to his demise.
Jo-Anne expressed her gratitude to Secretary Cacdac and the DMW-OWWA team in the United Kingdom for their swift action in repatriating Jerrick’s remains and for personally visiting them during this difficult time.
Furthermore, Secretary Cacdac directed Director Millar to facilitate the processing of rebates for Gomez’s father through the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). Gomez’s father, Jerry, a former seafarer, had worked in the industry for 34 years.
