MEMBERS of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ could no longer bear the oppression Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy is facing under the Marcos Jr. administration.
The Department of Justice chose the day of the prayer rally to announce actions against Pastor Apollo.
Justice Secretary Boying Remulla instructed the Davao City Prosecutor to file charges against Pastor Apollo and five others.
And while he admitted the difficulty of prosecuting someone like Pastor Quiboloy— a close friend, he stressed the need for justice to prevail.
But according to legal expert Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, the timing of events raises certain questions.
“Well, you know, the timing of all this is suspicious. First, there’s the hearing and suspension of the SMNI franchise. Then, the detention of Ka Eric and Usec. Badoy. After that, almost simultaneously— tomorrow, March 5, and then March 12 – Pastor Quiboloy is summoned to the Senate and the House. He’s being told he’ll be arrested if he doesn’t attend— and now suddenly, the DOJ steps in?” according to Atty. Ferdinand Topacio National Chairman, Citizens Crime Watch.
Atty. Topacio said that even a child can see that the government is simply pressuring the honorable Pastor.
He also believes that the legislative and executive branches are conspiring to corner him.
“And we’re hearing about rendition or extradition. We can clearly see the pattern of harassment against Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy,” Topacio said.
The Citizens Crime Watch joined the prayer rally, demanding justice for the Filipino people amid irregularities in the current administration.
Topacio pointed the evident support and sincerity in seeking justice for Pastor Apollo by the national chairman of the group, KOJC members and supporters.
“We’re not threatening, right? But if I were the government, seeing these faces, they’re not just here to meddle or go along. You see their determination to fight for Pastor Quiboloy’s rights and those of the Filipino people,” he stressed.
The Citizens Crime Watch believes that the KAKISAB Prayer Rally will awaken the interest of other Filipinos to speak up and express their sentiments about the current state of the nation.
“It’s only right because it’s excessive! If they can do this to Pastor Quiboloy, they can do it to any Filipino,” he added.
