DEPARTMENT of Tourism (DOT) Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco met with Lito Villanueva, Executive Vice President of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) and Chairman of Fintech Alliance.PH, on Tuesday (Mar. 18) at the DOT Office to explore digitalization initiatives aimed at enhancing tourism services.
Zeroing on expanding digital payment solutions for tourists in the Philippines, strengthening digital safety and security, and boosting local economic activity, they discussed plans in line with the Marcos Administration’s digitalization thrust.
The meeting also explored partnership opportunities with DOT-accredited tourism enterprises, the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, and strategies to encourage higher tourist spending from both local and international visitors.
Secretary Frasco outlined potential collaborations through the DOT’s flagship programs, including the Tourist Rest Areas (TRAs), regional travel and trade fairs, and the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) training program.
These initiatives reinforce the DOT’s commitment to seamless, innovative, and inclusive tourism services.
Also present at the meeting were Undersecretary Ferdinand Jumapao, Assistant Secretary Sharlene Zabala-Batin, Head Executive Assistant Jan Frances Villarino, and Director Jennifer Olba.
