Education Secretary highlights importance of English language in unlocking Filipinos’ potential

EDUCATION Secretary Sonny Angara acknowledged that the English language is a vital tool for unlocking the full potential of Filipinos during the English as a Subject in Basic Education (ESBE) Conference organized by the British Council.

The Conference gathered over 150 leaders from government, education, universities, ESL schools, NGOs, and the industry sector to discuss challenges, opportunities, and partnerships in English education.

“Language is not just words on a page. It is an agency. It is confidence. It is the difference between being silent and being heard. Let us not only give our students a language but also a voice that will carry them forward,” stated Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara.
