AN Emirati astronaut who was hailed as the first Arab to embark on a long-term space mission shared stunning selfies of the earth taken from the international space station.

UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi had the privilege to talk with the ruler of Dubai from space as he shared the world updates of his life a few days after arriving at the ISS – the largest modular space station in low Earth orbit.

A video retweeted by Al Neyadi showed his virtual conversation with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with the microphone seen floating for a few seconds in the air, before he managed to grasp it and gave his response to the ruler of Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed was delighted to see the Emirati astronaut arrive safely on the ISS.

The ruler of Dubai also expressed hope that the Emirati and the Arab youth will follow in his footsteps and wished him success in his mission.

Al Neyadi also shared a stunning view of the Earth taken from the ISS as he wished peace upon everyone and hailed how the UAE finally achieved its dream to set foot in space.

The Emirati astronaut arrived at the ISS on Friday with two NASA astronauts and one Russian cosmonaut.

Al Neyadi and his three crew mates will take part in more than 200 experiments assigned by NASA and various UAE universities for the next six months.
