God is a loving God. He is a loving Father. He is a God of judgment, of course; He is a God of justice, but the justice and the judgment that is meted out are according to His mercy also.

So, He does not just do it for the sake of doing it so that we will know that He is powerful and that He is God. He doesn’t do it like that.
He even went to the cross so that we would know that He doesn’t take joy in meeting out judgment and justice.
But He must do it because His holiness calls for it.
He really wants us to be saved. Don’t you know that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
