FINLAND’s national airline Finnair recently suspended two flights from Helsinki to the Estonian city of Tartu due to disturbances in GPS.
The two planes were forced to return to the departure airport for safety purposes.
Authorities accused Russia as the mastermind behind the GPS malfunction.
Flights to Tartu are dependent on Global Positioning System or GPS technology. The Estonian city is located just 40 kilometers away from the Russian border.
The rising incidents of GPS interference in the area urged Finnair to cancel all flights to an Estonian airport until June.
Meanwhile, the European Aviation Safety Agency said it is studying the situation but assured there are no imminent safety problems at the moment.
GPS jamming is a major cause of concern in the airline industry and poses a huge threat to the safety of air travel.
Russia has yet to respond to the alleged GPS interference claims.
