HK KOJC missionaries condemn violent attack on religious compounds in Davao City and Sarangani Province

THE sentiment of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ’s missionary workers is unanimous: the violent raid on the KOJC’s religious compounds by aggressive law enforcement is unjust.

Here are some statements from KOJC missionary workers in Hong Kong:

‘’So I join in condemning the act, along with many others, not just as a KOJC member but also within the Hong Kong community. They can’t believe such persecution is happening, especially what was done not only to the members but also to the children. My Chinese friends are asking why this is happening in the Philippines, where police and military are entering such compounds. Based on their understanding of the news, such actions shouldn’t be happening; there were no proper proceedings to enter. They saw what was done to Glory Mountain, which was destroyed,’’ Robert Pelonio KOJC Missionary | Hong Kong said.

‘’Even though we were not in Davao City, we feel the pain they are experiencing because of what was done to them,’’ Josephine Cadorniga KOJC Missionary | Hong Kong said.

‘’President (BBM), please listen to us, we OFWs are calling on you. We are calling on you to [let you know] that what is happening to the KOJC is an injustice,’’ Marlene Sigua KOJC Missionary | Hong Kong said.

Rosafee Sal could not help but become emotional upon watching on social media the violence carried out by the police in the religious compounds of KOJC in Davao City and Sarangani Province.

‘’What they are doing to Pastor is injustice. What they did in attacking the KOJC religious compounds was not right. Many were traumatized, including me, just from watching it. I was deeply hurt, especially for the children because I am from Davao. I felt the trauma of the people since they did nothing wrong, especially our beloved Pastor,’’ Rosafee Sal KOJC Missionary | Hong Kong said.

For the KOJC missionaries in Hong Kong, it is clear that the actions of the armed law enforcers in attacking the KOJC religious compounds were an act of harassment and abuse of power.

And it wasn’t just a raid—they also destroyed property and hurt defenseless church missionaries.

The youth, women, and elderly were not spared by the authorities.

Even the B’laan community of the KOJC in Sarangani Province was hurt and traumatized. Due to extreme fear and anxiety, two IP members even passed away.

The indiscriminate attack by the authorities, besides being violent and inhumane, was also illegal.

‘’In these times, with the president in Malacañang, they are truly oppressive. Even though there is supposed to be a separation between religion and the state, they are not adhering to their own laws. They had no search warrant, which means they are abusing their law themselves when they should be executing the law of the land. This is an abuse, and we, who are far away in Hong Kong, stand in solidarity with the cause of the Appointed Son,’’ Rosafee Sal KOJC Missionary | Hong Kong said.

‘’It is painful, bad, and very, very tragic what they did to the Kingdom. Meanwhile, only a few troops are sent to the West Philippine Sea, but a battalion is sent to Davao. What is Pastor compared to the love that Pastor teaches?’’ Salvacion Arcenal KOJC Missionary | Hong Kong said.

‘’I have seen nothing wrong with Pastor. Pastor only teaches obedience to all the children of the Father, love, unity, and goodness for the country of the Philippines,’’ Salvacion Arcenal KOJC Missionary | Hong Kong said.

Despite the suffering experienced by the KOJC missionaries in Davao City and Sarangani Province at the hands of the PNP SAF, who were initially thought to protect their rights and welfare, they remain strong and steadfast in their faith, believing that justice will eventually be achieved.
