A tragic fire occurred in a hospital in Italy that prompted the evacuation of patients, and medical personnel and unfortunately left 3 dead.
The incident occurred at San Giovanni Evangelista Hospital in Tivoli, a town located about 30km east of Rome.
Around 200 patients were evacuated to a nearby municipal gym before they were transferred to other hospitals near the area.
Authorities believe that the fire started in the basement of the hospital, eventually reaching the emergency rooms and intensive care unit.
Meanwhile, other departments were filled with thick smoke.
Three victims of the fire included 2 people who died of smoke inhalation, while one victim died of a heart attack.
A fourth person was initially reported to have died due to the fire, however, a later report stated that this individual passed away shortly before the fire broke out.
Italian authorities are investigating the situation, and the fire was extinguished by firefighters early on Saturday.
