Hurricane Beryl batters Jamaica after leaving trail of destruction in Grenada

THE category 4 storm left an “Armageddon-like” trail of devastation in Grenada as well as St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) before it landed on Jamaica’s southern coast on Wednesday.

The severe storm battered Jamaica with strong winds and poured more than a month’s worth of rain.

The death toll rose to eight after one more person died in Jamaica.

Hurricane Beryl is now lashing at Cayman Islands where it is expected to cause life-threatening conditions after tearing through other islands in the Caribbean.

Residents in the Dominican Republic also witnessed giant waves pounding on its shores.

The severe storm is expected to land in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula on Friday morning before making its way into the Gulf of Mexico and affecting parts of northeastern Mexico and South Texas this weekend.
