Indonesian navy to buy more vessels in 2024

THE Indonesian navy plans to spend its defense budget investing in new military vessels to upgrade its defense capabilities.

The navy received several domestically-built vessels this month.

Its latest addition was the KRI Marlin (877) which can accommodate 50 crew and can endure sailing in the ocean for five straight days.

Last year, the navy marked 2023 by receiving more military vessels that are locally made.

The navy previously announced to invest in more patrol ships and special mission boats this year.

The announcement took place before the upcoming presidential elections on February 14, 2024, where all candidates have pledged to strengthen the nation’s defense including the navy.
