IRAN has strongly refuted allegations of its involvement in a Palestinian militant Hamas-led attack on Israel launched on Saturday morning.
The Iranian mission to the UN emphasized that while they support Palestine, they were not involved in its response, and Iran had no role in their decisions.
“We emphatically stand in unflinching support of Palestine; however, we are not involved in Palestine’s response, as it is taken solely by Palestine itself,” statement of Iranian mission to the UN.
While some Hamas members claimed Iranian support, others said the operation was a surprise even to Iran.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, the White House the US has yet to see concrete evidence of Iran’s involvement.
The ongoing conflict has resulted in a significant loss of life on both sides, with Iran endorsing the Palestinian assault and urging Muslim countries to support the Palestinians.
To recall, at a parliament session held on Saturday- which was the day of the attack, Iranian lawmakers were seen and heard chanting down Israel, down with America, and welcome Palestine.
Israeli Defense Forces spokesman Richard Hecht blamed the Iranian regime for the attack, as it has long been a supporter of Hamas.
And in a recent video he said the unprecedented attack was Israel’s “911” event.
In 2022 Al Jazeera interview, Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh publicly thanked Iran for supporting the Gaza-based group with $70-M to help it develop missiles and defense system, saying that the Iranian government is their biggest donor.
