THE Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) suffered another setback after its small rocket engine failed to launch and explodes a minute after a test launch, the third incident of Japan’s rocket launch failure in a row.
The launched test was done at the Noshiro Testing Center in Akita prefecture in Northeastern Japan, Thursday morning.
The explosion occurred about one minute after the second test began.
According to JAXA, the Epsilon launch vehicle is a solid-fuel rocket designed to lower the threshold to space regarded as ‘special’ and to usher in an age in which everyone can make active use of space.
The development of the “Epsilon S Launch Vehicle” has started to strengthen Epsilon’s international competitiveness by maximizing synergistic effects with the H3 launch vehicle aiming at launching the demonstration flight in FY2023, the agency added.
It can be remembered, last June 10, 2020, JAXA together with IHI Aerospace Co, Ltd., signed the basic agreement on the development of the epsilon s launch vehicle and its launch service business.
