Kuwait FM leads high-level delegation in Mauritania

THE foreign minister of Kuwait attended a high-level meeting of Muslim nations in Mauritania.

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah traveled to Africa earlier this week to represent Kuwait for the 49th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The meeting was held between March 16 and 17 in the African country of Mauritania.

The annual talks focused on the Palestinian issue, counterterrorism, Islamophobia, and solidarity.

During the meeting, Sheilk Salem emphasized the need for concerted efforts and an Islamic response.

The OIC is the second-largest annual decision-oriented intergovernmental organization after the United Nations that boasts 57 member states, 48 of which are Muslim countries.

Also known as Islamic Summit, the event aims to protect and safeguard the vital interests of Muslims by promoting international peace as well as inter-faith dialogue.

The Kuwaiti foreign minister Palestinian called for deeper Islamic cooperation amid the ongoing tensions in Palestine which he said is considered the prime issue for both the Arab and Muslim worlds.
