Man in Zamboanga Enters Crocodile Enclosure, Mistaking It for a Toy — Gets Attacked

Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay – A shocking video that has gone viral on social media shows a man being bitten and dragged by a crocodile after casually entering its enclosure at the Kabug Mangrove Park and Wetlands around 11:00 a.m. on April 28.

According to witnesses, the man claimed he believed the crocodile was just a statue or a toy, so he entered the pen and grabbed the reptile. The video captures his screams for help as the crocodile bit his leg and began the death roll — spinning him underwater.

Police officers and crocodile caretakers rushed to the scene but were unable to free the man. It wasn’t until the owner of the crocodile arrived that the animal finally released its grip.

The man was rushed to Dr. George T. Hofer Memorial Hospital. Authorities said he is fortunate not to lose his right leg, though he remains under medical care. Investigators believe he may be suffering from mental health issues or depression, which possibly led to his reckless behavior.
