Marcos Jr. called traitor after Sandiganbayan convicts MNLF Chairman Nur Misuari of graft

MORO National Liberation Front (MNLF) Chairman Nur Misuari endorsed President Bongbong Marcos for the 2022 elections.

Misuari’s support was crucial for BBM due to his bitter experience with his father, former President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr., during martial law.

In fact, Misuari stated in 2022 that the sins of the father should not be inherited by the son.

Therefore, the MNLF supported the UniTeam of BBM and Vice President Sara Duterte.

“I had a very sad memory about the governance of the late President (Ferdinand) Marcos, not necessarily against the son. As I said time and again, the fault of the father cannot be inherited unnecessarily by the children or by the sons and daughters,” according to MNLF Chairman Nur Misuari in 2022.

However, during the term of the president he supported, the Sandiganbayan 3rd Division issued a conviction against him in a graft case.

The complaint pertains to Misuari’s term as former ARMM Governor in 2000 and 2001.

Some high-ranking MNLF officials are dismayed by the situation.

According to MNLF Davao State Chairman Monk Olamit, the case against Misuari is fabricated.

“It’s a totally fabricated case just to bring down our Chairman,” according to Aziz Monk Olamit, State Chairman, MNLF Davao.

Olamit questioned why the Marcos Jr. administration treated Misuari this way despite his support in the last election.

“He’s very old. But they still do this despite his help. I will quote his saying that the sin of the father cannot be inherited by the son. During the campaign, BBM really used that quote from Chairman Nur Misuari,” Olamit added.

Misuari is known to be close to former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

Olamit suspects this is why their leader is now being targeted.

“Yes, this is deliberate… planned. They know Chairman Nur Misuari and former President Duterte are like brothers. I don’t know what their plan is, but this is a total crackdown on the MNLF,” Olamit stressed.

Olamit condemned the actions of the Marcos administration towards the MNLF leader.

Their ground supporters are also furious.

They call President Marcos Jr.

“This government is really traitorous. It is not sincere about peace,” Olamit stated.

They have not yet spoken to Chairman Nur.

They plan to call a meeting to discuss their next steps.

They are also planning a protest in Davao City to express their condemnation to the national government.

“The more the oppression… the more the ground reacts. They are not just speaking out. That’s why I became the mouthpiece of the ground sentiment to let them know. I am challenging the government, especially OPAPRU, to settle the case of the Chairman,” he said.
