DEATH toll rose to 13 as more horses died from an unknown illness in several Victorian farms this week.
All deaths occurred within 48 hours of the rapid onset of a severe, unspecified illness at five properties, all at least 30km apart.
Officials described their deaths as “very unusual.”
The possible links between these deaths are still being investigated.
Authorities believe none of the horses died from infectious illness, making their deaths more bizarre.
Officials said there is no reason to restrict horse movements or horse events at this point.
