SMNI News captured a moment of power outage at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal-1 around 11AM on Tuesday.
The power was restored within less than five minutes.
We also observed the check-in counter operations for departing passengers, but fortunately, the crowd was not too large at that time.
According to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), the first schedule of electrical maintenance at NAIA Terminal 1 and 2, International Cargo Terminal, MIAA Administration Bldg, and airfield took place from 1 AM to 4 AM on Tuesday.
MIAA assured that such activity would not impact any flights.
The series of electrical maintenance activities is set to last from February 6 to March 7, 2024, as part of the ongoing upgrade of electrical systems at NAIA.
While there may be some inconvenience in the area, MIAA assured the public that critical systems used for passenger processing will remain operational.
MIAA previously held a meeting with stakeholders and service providers, including the Philippines’ electric power distribution company, Meralco, to inform them of the scheduled power maintenance and ensure that flights and passenger movements will not be disrupted during the activity.
The last maintenance activity by MIAA was conducted at NAIA Terminal-3 in November 2023.
Meanwhile, MIAA advises travelers with inquiries to reach out to their official social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
