NATIONAL Security Adviser or NSA Eduardo Año strongly assured that the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) deal is ‘transparent’ under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
Based on the agreement between the Philippines and America, 4 EDCA sites will be built at Naval Base Camilo Osias in Sta. Ana, Cagayan; Lal-lo Airport in Lal-lo, Cagayan; Camp Melchor Dela Cruz in Gamu, Isabela; and Balabac Island in Palawan.
In an exclusive interview with SMNI News, Año said there is no secret to hide in the EDCA deal because the world is now ‘digital’.
NSA Año also assured that they are doing everything to guide the President in deciding on any issue.
“Well, we are very very transparent and we have seen that with the digital world now, it is easy to get the information. And I personally make sure that as the national security adviser, all the information going to our president is true and really comes from the ground so that our president can make the right decision,” said Sec. Eduardo Año, National Security Adviser.
Recently, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. did not respond to the negative view of the few in a recent statement by the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian on the safety of overseas Filipino workers or OFWs working in Taiwan.
Ambassador Huang said that the Philippines should oppose the independence of Taiwan if we care about the more than 150,000 OFWs there.
But the President said he will be talking to the Chinese Ambassador soon” to discuss what the envoy meant in his quoted statement.
The Chief Executive said all the fuss might have been caused by a translation problem, noting that English is not the ambassador’s first language.
