THE North Atlantic Treaty Organization started a large-scale military exercise across Norway, Finland, and Sweden.

More than 20,000 soldiers from 13 nations are taking part in a massive military exercise known as the Nordic Response 2024.

Participating troops include Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

More than 100 fighter jets, helicopters, and maritime surveillance aircraft, frigates, and submarines will train side by side to defend the Nordic territory via air, land, and sea.

Finland will participate in the massive exercise as a NATO member nation for the first time.

Nordic Response 2024 will be taking place in Norway, Finland, and Sweden will take place from March 3 to 15.

The drills coincide with Steadfast Defender, a NAT0 exercise participated by some 90,000 troops which started last week, as well as the British-led marine exercise Joint Warrior.

The exercise emphasizes the importance of the High North which include Nordic countries extending throughout the Arctic and beyond the Polar Circle.
