NCRPO chief clears no NCR cops communicating with ICC

NATIONAL Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Maj. Gen. Melencio Nartatez, Jr. clarified on Friday that no Metro Manila cops have been communicating to the International Criminal Court (ICC) implicated in the previous administration’s drug war.

In a press briefing held at Quezon City Police District (QCPD) at Camp Karingal, Nartatez made remarked after Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa shared his sentiment on Facebook, that his upperclassman has been persuading other cops to testify against him before the ICC.

Nartatez also said that based on the pronouncement of the DOJ as well as the applicable law, the PNP particularly in NCR needs to reach the level of clearance of their actions will be at NCRPO.

Meanwhile, on the part of the NCRPO, loyalty check has been normal in the organization said general Nartatez just to make sure that their men would remain committed to the constitution.

On the other hand, PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo maintained that the PNP has not received any confirmed report about an ongoing plot to destabilize or oust the President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV initially disclosed last Tuesday that police officials are involved in the ouster plot, which the PNP dismissed immediately based on information from the intelligence community.

On Wednesday, Trillanes told a television interview that there are two Mindanao-based senior PNP officials who are involved in the plot.

However, Trillanes did not name the two generals but said he was sure the PNP is aware of the activities of these two identified PNP personnel who are based and assigned in Mindanao.

Fajardo asked Trillanes to share information with the PNP leadership if he has evidence on the involvement of these officials to the ouster plot.

“If he has holdings (information), he can talk to our Chief PNP (Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil) to share whatever information he has,” said Col. Jean Fajardo, Chief, PNP-PIO.
