ISRAELI Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that devastation in Southern Lebanon would occur if Hezbollah opens a second front in the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
He also warned that it could turn Beirut into today’s Gaza.
Netanyahu issued the warning during his visit to the Israeli defense force’s northern command headquarters.
“I also suggest to our enemies that they pay attention to this spirit, because if Hezbollah chooses to start an all-out war, then it will single-handedly turn Beirut and southern Lebanon, not far from here, into Gaza and Khan Yunis. We are determined to bring victory, and we will do it with your help,” according to Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel.
The Northern Command oversees the units that have exchanged fire with Hezbollah along the border between the Jewish State and Lebanon in the weeks since the October 7 Hamas terror attack.
Right now, Israel’s focus is on the south of Gaza as its troops reportedly enter Khan Yunis.
Cross-border firing has been happening every day between the forces of Israel and Hezbollah after the group expressed its support to Hamas.
Hezbollah missile from Lebanon kills Israeli civilian—Israeli military
The warning also came after the Israeli military said that a guided missile attack from Lebanon killed an Israeli civilian in northern Israel recently.
According to Israeli Public Broadcaster Kan, the civilian was a farmer, while the Jewish state’s ambulance service said that he was a 60-year-old man.
Israeli jets struck at a Hezbollah Command and Control Center in response to the attack.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military responded to allegations of using white phosphorus in Southern Lebanon, saying that it only used legal weapons and ammunition.
The response came after the Lebanon National News Agency alleged that phosphorus was shelled by the Israeli forces on the outskirts of Rmeish town.
