THE New York City Police have identified the victims of a deadly car explosion that happened at a U.S.-Canada border crossing this week.
The police identified Kurt Villani and his wife, Monical Villani, both 53 years old, who died when their car became airborne and crashed on the U.S.-Canada Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls.
A U.S. border agent was also injured in the incident that occurred on Thursday, which prompted a huge emergency response and the closure of four border crossings, but three of four other crossings that were shut were reopened later on.
The security scare came on the eve of American Thanksgiving.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul ruled out terrorism.
Meanwhile, Nagara Falls Mayor In New York, Robert Restaino, said that the couple had been driving an older Bentley vehicle and were on their way to a Kiss band concert in Canada, but was later canceled.
Authorities are still investigating several possibilities behind the incident, including whether the vehicle suffered a mechanical failure.
