NAVAL Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM), through its CMO team from the Civil Military Operations Unit- Western Mindanao and other OPCON and TACON Units, participated in the Coastal Clean-up Drive organized by the Zamboanga City’s Office of the Environment and Natural Resources in Brgy. Rio Hondo, Zamboanga City on April 20, 2024.
NFWM joined hands with local and national government agencies, socio-civic organizations, and other members from the security sector for the conduct of the said endeavor in observance of the Earth Day 2024 celebrated every 22nd of April with the theme: “Planer vs. Plastics”. The participants tirelessly collected truckloads of trash, mostly consisting non-biodegradable waste materials like plastic cups and bottles.
Further, the activity aims to raise awareness on plastic pollution, reduce single-use plastic, consumption, demand an end to fast-fashion and invest in technologies that can reduce plastic use.
Naval Forces Western Mindanao remains steadfast in its environmental advocacy, committed to preserve the beauty and a healthier oceans and coastal areas.
