AMERICAN luxury department store Nordstrom will be closing all of its stores in Canada following a drop in sales.
Earlier this week, upscale department store Nordstrom officially announced that it will be closing all of its stores in Canada with online purchases halted immediately on Thursday.
The announcement comes after Nordstrom reported lower sales and profits for its fourth quarter ending January 28 with its net income falling to $119 million from $200 million the previous year.
Nordstrom first entered Canada in September 2014 with its initial store in Chinook Centre in Calgary.
Nordstrom is an American luxury department store chain headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and founded by John Nordstrom and Carl Wallin in 1901.
The original Wallin & Norstrom Store operated exclusively as a shoe store.
Currently, the company has 6 Nordstrom stores in Canada plus an additional 7 stores of Nordstrom Rack – the company’s discount outlet – as well as its online store which has halted sales immediately.
Returns and exchanges will be permitted until March 17.
Giftcards are no longer being sold, however, they will be accepted until the stores close by late June this year.
And the following are the stores that will close in Canada: in Alberta, Chinook Centre and Deerfoot Meadows in Calgary, as well as South Edmonton Common in Edmonton.
In British Columbia, Willowbrook Shopping Centre in Langley and Pacific Centre in Vancouver.
In Ontario, Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga, Rideau Centre, Ottawa Train Yards, Sherway Gardens, Eaton Centre, Yorkdale Centre and One Bloor in Toronto, As well as Vaughan Mills in Vaughan.
