Online gamers leak US military secrets

A war thunder user has shared sensitive military documents on the official forums.

War thunder is a free-to-play multiplayer game developed by Gaijin Entertainment.

Many war thunder users talk about accuracy and are pressing the game’s designer to get the detail right.

At least 2 pages from the manual, detailing the commander’s hatch, the turret, and spall liner assemblies, among others, were leaked during discussions about the said game.

Reports citing a statement provided to pc gamer said that Anton Yudintsev, the company’s founder, confirmed that there was a post containing classified or restricted information regarding the Bradley on December 12.

The moderators of the game then deleted the sensitive information within minutes, but not before several users had downloaded and shared it with the media.

Although it is not classified as top secret, the technical manual reportedly contains export-controlled data.k

But according to the game company’s founder, the leak on the M2A2 Bradley manual did not originate on war thunder forums, as it had already been floating around platforms like Discord and Reddit since at least December 8.

He also said that his company is doing its best to immediately crack down on leakers.

This is not the first time that war thunder fans have leaked classified information.

Over the years, some fans have spilled information on 14 separate occasions according to Task & Purpose.

Among the classified information that they spilled were the AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopter, the F-117 Nighthawk, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-15E Strike Eagle, France’s Leclerc, British Challenger-2 tank, and Chinese DTC10-125 anti-armor shells.
