IT’s not just Filipinos who avidly use live streaming to sell their products.
Even some businessmen in large countries like China use this strategy to generate income.
This is what workers do in a company in Ximen Village in Turpan City, Xinjiang, China.
They often do live streaming to sell various raisin products. Each day, employees of the Xinjiang Silk Road Jiaozi E-commerce Company have two-hour shifts from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
According to the company, each live streamer earns between 5,000 to 10,000 yuan per month, equivalent to 39,000 to 78,000 pesos.
They also receive other benefits, especially if they perform well in their work.
The company earns over 40 million yuan, or more than 300 million pesos annually, through online selling.
(Speaking in Chinese, translation): “Well, here, they receive education and training. We teach them how to be livestreamers. And we give them catering and accommodation,” according to Aliya Abdul Reheman, Head, of XinCheng Ximen Village E-commerce Company Office.
Did you know that Turpan means “Fire Land,” and it’s the hottest city in China? Turpan is known as one of the world’s driest places because summer temperatures can reach up to 50 degrees Celsius or even higher.
Apart from that, Turpan is also renowned for its raisins, considered the best in the world.
One of these e-commerce companies is Silk Road Pearl Agricultural and Biotechnology Company, a company based in China that produces raisins. These raisins come from seedless white grapes.
(Speaking in Chinese, translation): “The population of this village is about 3,100, and the land of this village is 2,700 or more. Among these 2,300, they use it to plant grapes. So planting grapes is one of the major sources of income of this village. Besides that, because of this village’s location, it is in the suburban area. So it is easy for the villages to have part-time jobs in a restaurant. Doing small businesses combines the grape planting income as well as the part-time job income. That’s the major income of this village,” Nie Zhaoyu, Village Head, Ximen, Turpan City, China said.
So wherever you look in this city, you’ll always find grape plantations. Ninety percent of Turpan’s residents are Uyghurs, and the remaining ten percent come from various other ethnic groups in China.
